Reach Out! Mentoring at Scarlett Middle School

What We Do

Reach Out! matches volunteers with youth in intentional mentoring relationships. We define mentoring as an ongoing, structured relationship between trusted and trusting individuals who grow and develop in a holistic partnership that includes academic, emotional, social, spiritual, and physical realms.

Mentor Roles & Responsibilities

• Mentors meet with their children at least once a week at Scarlett Middle School to focus on school work, occasionally in the cafeteria to have lunch and meet their friends, and once a month to do something fun.
• Mentors communicate with the child’s parents regularly and try tp make at least one home visit a semester.
• Mentors communicate with the child’s teachers and counselors to promote working together for the child’s success.
• Mentors attend our orientation, training workshops, Family Events, weekend outings and World of Work opportunities.
