People or experiences that led me to where I am

I have worked for and with a number of judges during my legal career and they have always encouraged me to zealously represent clients, uphold the law, and act with civility and professionalism.

How I got into this field

I went to college and then law school. I started by practicing law in a number of courts in various states and jurisdictions.

What I like most about my work

There is something new and different each day. There are always new problems or issues to solve. Helping people and seeing people change and improve their lives is the best part of my job.

Volunteering or working in a court system provides invaluable experience on how government works.

Challenges and exciting changes I see in my field in the near future

Technological advances have and will continue to make a big impact on the way I do my job, administer justice, and make myself accessible to colleagues and the community.

Judges have to stay up to date with changes in the law as well as administrative changes at local, state, and federal levels.

Other career fields where my skills could be put to use

Practicing law as a lawyer, social work, teaching, drug and alcohol intervention and treatment.

How my job impacts my family life

Serving as a magistrate judge provides a good living and I am able to keep “balance” in my professional, personal, and family life.
