Careers Shared: Aviation maintenance and management of it

Brief Description:
Will do a presentation on the training offered by the Michigan Institute of Aeronautics at Willow Run Airport in Belleville, Michigan, and on the specifics and prospects of career fields related to airplane and avionics maintenance and repair.

Will do a demonstration of how jet engines work, and will pass out career information from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Will also explain the opportunities for further 2- and 4-year degree programs using the Institute's training as a for-credit starting point.

Time Needed: 50 minutes


Prerequisites

Age Level: most appropriate for high school, but will visit middle schools, especially 8th grade

Group Size: minimum of 12

Interests: Aviation, mechanics, electronics

Previous Classes/Knowledge: math, science, and shop classes all helpful

AV Equipment Needed: Will bring slide projector; need screen

Travel Limitations: Eight-county area of southeastern Michigan: Monroe, Lenawee, Hillsdale, Wayne, Washtenaw, Livingston, Oakland, and Macomb Counties
