Cobblestone Farms Summer Day Camps

All Day Adventures

An opportunity for youngsters age 5 (and K completed) through age 11 to spend the entire day at the farm, enjoying a more in-depth experience at a more relaxed pace. Each session will offer a theme with a wide variety of activities such as crafts, woodstove cooking, and games. We will also take advantage of the Buhr Park play areas. The emphasis will be on fun and comfort, so activities will be modified to meet the campers' interests, abilities, and age needs. Morning and afternoon snacks will be provided. Campers should bring a sack lunch.

Allen and Rumsey Week

Get to know Ann Arbor as seen through the eyes of its early founders, John Allen and Elisha Rumsey. Explore the town's 1830's natural and man-made environments. Also, projects relating to the campers' own family histories will comprise this exciting look at the past!

Little House Week

This autobiographical story of young Laura Ingalls will create the mood for the week. In the ambience of our own "little house" (the Log Cabin), we will relive some of the chores, fun, and adventures of young pioneers.

Independence Week

A declaration for fun and creativity will be adopted this week as campers prepare to enter the Fourth of July parade in downtown Ann Arbor.

County Fair Week

A summer highlight on the farm!! Campers will be busy preparing food, sewing, and doing woodworking along with other craft projects to display at the Friday fair. Music, games, and entertainment will also be a part of the celebration.

Animal Week

E-I-E-I-O and on our farm, youngsters will learn the basics of animal husbandry as well as the varied roles of domestic, farm, and wild animals in early rural Michigan. A trip to the Washtenaw County 4H Fair will be part of the fun, too!!

Half Day Adventures

Our traditional camp program offers a morning (early elementary ages) or afternoon (upper elementary ages) of hands-on fun as youngsters learn about a child's life in the mid-nineteenth century.

Back to Basics

Young pioneers will tend to the basic necessities of life, including building a log cabin, planting the garden, cooking on the wood stove and caring for the animals. There will be new and revised activities for returning campers.

Market to Market

In addition to the basic farm chores, children will learn how pioneers made items for trade at market. Candles, sewing, articles, pottery, and baked goods are a few of the things that children will make and actually take on a visit to the market at the end of the week.

The Finer Things

Once past providing for the bare necessities, the pioneers found time to make and enjoy the finer things in life. Children will make rugs, spin wool, sww, and indulge in many other fun activities. The week will end with an ice cream social and parlor games.

Little House

Join us at Cobblestone Farm's "little house in the big woods" (the Log Cabin) for a week of frontier activities based on Laura Ingalls Wilder's childhood remembrances.
